TutorSplash Terms & Conditions

10. Payout Logistics

TutorSplash facilitates payouts to tutors through PayPal, our official and exclusive payment processor. All payments are made in United States Dollars (USD), regardless of the tutor’s location or local currency.

a. Commission and Earnings Structure

Tutors earn 70% of the total class price, calculated using the following formula:

Payout = 70% × (Class Price × Number of Enrolled Students)

The remaining 30% is retained by TutorSplash as a platform service fee, covering transaction processing, technical infrastructure, and administrative support.

b. Payout Frequency and Processing Time

Payouts are processed on a weekly basis, typically every Friday, provided that the following conditions are met:

  • The tutor has submitted a valid payout request via their dashboard.
  • The tutor has no outstanding compliance reviews or session investigations.

Processing time may vary depending on PayPal’s own internal policies and regional banking schedules.

c. Minimum Payout Threshold

The minimum payout amount is $20 CAD. If a tutor’s total earnings do not meet this threshold, the funds will be held in their TutorSplash wallet until the threshold is reached or a payout request is made after the platform’s fiscal quarter ends.

d. International Fees and Currency Conversion

If a tutor withdraws funds to a non-CAD bank account, PayPal or the receiving bank may:

  • Apply currency conversion fees
  • Use foreign exchange rates that differ from market rates

TutorSplash does not assume responsibility for these external charges. Tutors are encouraged to consult their financial institution for details on applicable fees.

e. Compliance Holds and Verification

Payouts may be temporarily delayed under the following circumstances:

  • A tutor is undergoing an identity verification review
  • A class or session is flagged for investigation (e.g., reported misconduct, quality concerns)
  • The tutor has not signed all required platform agreements or declarations

TutorSplash reserves the right to withhold or delay payouts until all legal, compliance, and platform obligations have been met.

f. Responsibility and Acceptance

By using the TutorSplash platform, tutors expressly acknowledge and agree to:

  • The payout formula and commission structure
  • PayPal as the sole method of disbursement
  • Any third-party fees incurred as a result of their own banking or currency preferences

All earnings are reported in accordance with TutorSplash's internal financial records and may be subject to audit for compliance, fraud prevention, and tax reporting purposes.

11. Policy Updates

TutorSplash may revise this policy at any time. Continued use of the platform after notification constitutes acceptance of any updates.

TutorSplash Cancellation and Refund Policy

Last Updated: July 10, 2025

This Cancellation and Refund Policy outlines the rules and eligibility criteria for refunding students and rescheduling lessons and group classes on TutorSplash. By using our services, both tutors and students agree to the terms outlined below.

1. General Cancellation Policy

One-on-One Lessons:

  • Full refund if a student cancels at least 24 hours before the scheduled lesson start time.
  • No refund if a student cancels within 24 hours of the lesson.
  • Full refund or reschedule if the tutor cancels for any reason, regardless of timing.

Group Classes:

  • Full refund if a student cancels at least 8 hours before the scheduled class.
  • No refund if a student cancels within 8 hours of the group class.
  • Full refund or reschedule if the tutor cancels before the first class meeting.

2. Automatic Session Rules

  • Tutors may end a lesson or class 20 minutes after the scheduled start time if the student or no learners join.
  • Lessons and group classes will be automatically marked as complete 2 hours after the scheduled time if not manually completed.

3. Missed or Incomplete Sessions

  • No refund is granted if a student misses a session or arrives more than 20 minutes late without prior communication.
  • Tutors may cancel the session at their discretion if a student is a no-show.
  • If a student misses 3 consecutive sessions without notifying the tutor, the student may be withdrawn from future classes with no refund.

4. Transfer and Schedule Changes

  • Tutors may reschedule or transfer students to another time slot or group class section with student or parent consent.
  • If a student is transferred to a new class section, refund eligibility is based on the earliest original enrollment date, not the new one.
  • If a student agrees to a rescheduled date/time, refunds will no longer apply, unless the tutor subsequently cancels the new schedule.

5. Prorated Refunds

  • If a tutor cancels a portion of a multi-session class or does not deliver all the scheduled meetings, a prorated refund may be issued based on the undelivered portion.
  • If a student cannot attend a rescheduled session, they may request a partial refund for the missed meeting(s), subject to review.

6. Ineligible Refund Cases

No refunds are granted for:

  • Schedule conflicts on the part of the student
  • Missed sessions without notice
  • Time zone or daylight saving time errors
  • Failure to use credits or virtual wallet balance
  • Content access already delivered or used in the case of self-paced content (if offered in future)

Excessive refund requests may result in account review and possible ineligibility for future refunds.

7. Processing Refunds

  • Refunds will be credited to the original payment method (e.g., credit card or TutorSplash wallet).
  • Processing time:
    • Credit card refunds: 1–3 business days
    • Wallet balance refunds: Up to 14 business days

8. Tutor Responsibilities Related to Refunds

  • Tutors may not deny refund requests when a session is canceled due to their own unavailability.
  • If a tutor has already been paid for a session that later qualifies for a refund, the amount will be deducted from future payouts.
  • Tutors are not allowed to issue refunds directly. All refunds must be processed through the platform.

This policy is in accordance with Ontario’s Consumer Protection Act and aligns with digital service best practices in Canada. For questions or disputes, please contact support@tutorsplash.com.

TutorSplash Refund Policy for Tutors

Last Updated: [July 10,2025]

This policy outlines the responsibilities and expectations for tutors regarding refunds on TutorSplash. It ensures transparency, fairness, and a high-quality learner experience. By offering services through TutorSplash, tutors agree to the following refund-related conditions.

1. Tutor-Initiated Refund Situations

Tutors are expected to proactively offer full or partial refunds in the following scenarios:

  • You cancel or miss a scheduled lesson or class and are unable to reschedule.
  • A learner had a poor experience and you were partially or wholly responsible.
  • You are running a personal discount or promotional offer.
  • A parent enrolls the wrong learner and subsequently enrolls the correct one.
  • A lesson or class is started more than 5 minutes late or ends more than 5 minutes early.

If payment has not yet been processed, tutors must cancel or refund using the session management tools available on the platform. If payment has already been disbursed, tutors must notify TutorSplash support immediately and return the appropriate share of the session fee (typically 70%) within 7 days of notice.

2. Refunds for One-on-One Tutoring Sessions

Tutor Cancellations:

  • All tutor-initiated cancellations result in a full refund to the student.
  • This includes cancellations due to emergency, unavailability, or insufficient materials from students if not communicated earlier.

Student Cancellations:

  • If canceled at least 24 hours in advance, the student receives a 100% refund.
  • If canceled less than 24 hours before the lesson, no refund is issued unless the tutor makes an exception.

Tutors may request learners to provide learning materials or assignments at least 24 hours in advance, and must clearly communicate this expectation at the time of booking.

3. Refunds for Group Classes

  • If the tutor cancels a group class before the first session, all enrolled students receive a full refund.
  • If the tutor reschedules a session and a student cannot attend the new time, the tutor is encouraged to offer a prorated refund.
  • A prorated refund is also expected if a tutor fails to conduct the full number of scheduled meetings in a group class.

Tutors must notify TutorSplash in advance of any changes to ensure accurate record-keeping and payment adjustments.

4. Refunds Processed by TutorSplash

TutorSplash reserves the right to initiate a refund without tutor approval in the following situations:

  • The tutor misses or cancels a lesson without rescheduling.
  • A class is started late or finished early without justification.
  • A fixed-length course does not deliver all planned sessions.
  • The tutor changes the schedule or duration of recurring group classes without student consent.
  • The tutor fails to respond to learners or post content within 24 hours of the course start (if asynchronous classes are introduced in the future).

In these cases, if the tutor has already been paid, they will be notified and expected to return their share of the fee. Failure to do so within 7 calendar days may result in:

  • Temporary or permanent suspension
  • Listing removal
  • Withholding of future payouts

5. Additional Guidelines and Tutor Accountability

  • Tutors may not issue refunds independently through third-party services such as PayPal or Stripe. All refund requests must be processed via TutorSplash’s support system.
  • Tutors must respond promptly to refund-related communications from support or users.
  • Tutors with a disproportionately high refund rate relative to bookings may be subject to review and may have their listings paused or removed.
  • Repeated refund issues may lead to account suspension or delisting.
